"JUSTICE SEEKERS"

Is an organization advocating for prison reform and humanized corrections. We started this organization when we became aware of the need for empowerment, education, and respect for Inmates and Families of Inmates. Most groups are concerned with guilt or innocence, or were working on one narrow issue. We feel that all issues are important. JS will continue to support these groups' efforts while advocating and bringing awareness to prisoners and their families. If determinate sentencing is repealed, if the Death Penalty is abolished, if every innocent prisoner was released, there would still be people in prison and family that loves them, they should all be treated like the human beings they are. They should be provided with opportunities to learn skills that will help them stay out of prison upon their release, as well as programs and organizations to help, and support them upon release, to reintegrate into society as an asset not a risk.

What Are Our Goals:

Educating the public about prison conditions, the fact
that prisoners and their families are human beings,
and the need for more humane prison practices.

Empowering Prisoners and their Families to stand up
and make their voices heard.

What Reform Movements Do We Support:

Abolition of the Death Penalty, and Life without Possibility of Parole.

Development of more TRANSITION programs, both housing and vocational for prisoners after their release.

Development of more REHABILITATION programs within prisons, expanded educational and vocational opportunities for prisoners.

Consistent, Available, Quality, HEALTH CARE for prisoners.

Maintaining separate Juvenile facilities for young offenders.

Improved VISITATION opportunities for all prisoners and family members, especially prisoners who are parents of minor children.

Development of affordable PHONE contracts for families of Inmates.

What Do We Do:

Publish a Quarterly Newsletter, and maintain a Web page.

Support other reform groups with letters, and attendance at their rallies.

Respond to requests from prisoners and/or their families and friends for information, support, and advice to the best of our ability.

What We Don't Do:

Work on individual prisoner's campaigns, we don't have investigators or the resources to confirm facts given to us by prisoners, or to write the letters, file court papers etc, that individual campaigns require. We share our knowledge, write letters for and support as best we can, anyone running such a campaign for a prisoner.

Hire Lawyers, we have no money to do this.

Denigrate any group because of the actions of one member of that group.
